Jump Start

Pastor Ricardo has a gift for pulling people and resources together to make things work. Construction is not fully done, but we are making do. We don't have any tables, but have put a board on top of the water tank to create a place for the children to write on. Last week, he visited and partnered with NGOs and schools to sign up over 40 children for Living Stones, and we have now began.

Working with Dilma (in charge of education/tutorial) Luizinho (in charge of sports and recreational education) and Cassie/Rachel (in charge of English and information), Pastor Ricardo (in charge of Bible/character education) has also implemented the soup program for Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is hoping to start providing at least a snack every day for the children. If you would like to partner with us by supporting a child from Lagoa, please go to http://www.wribrazil.com/foundationbuilder

This boy said his name was Ricardo. His name isn't Ricardo, but his nickname is Ja. Ja/Ricardo has been involved in some gang troubles. Lagoa is a very violent town, with three main gangs. Violence has increased recently as two gangs are working together to attach the other one. In church recently, Ja/Ricardo was worshiping, when two men came to kill him. He literally hopped over the church wall (thank goodness construction wasn't finished) and was able to get to safety. Please keep this town in your prayers.

Things are coming along beautifully in Lagoa de Itaenga (which means Lake of the rock/plant...basically). Most often we will just call it the lake: Lagoa.
Dilma (on the left) is working on registering all of the children and will head up the educational part of the program. Luizinho, as soon as finances are finalized, will head up the P.E. part of the program. Pastor Ricardo is overseeing everything and Bible/character, and Cassie and Rachel are teaching English.
Living Stones is so excited to have Cassie Hlebovy joining us as part of the coordination team! She is learning while doing, and stepping up to lead.
Lagoa Living Stones is also working with a Brazilian NGO to provide computer classes for the children, and hope to also provide music training.
Lagoa is a town with a lot of violence and drug problems. The children need Jesus. Please partner with us to support Living Stones in Lagoa. If you are interested in supporting a child in Lagoa--helping this child, church, and community, go to http://www.wribrazil.com/foundationbuilder

Beginning in Lagoa de Itaenga

We are excited to announce that plans are in process to being Living Stones/Glory Sports ministries in Lagoa de Itaenga. In 2013, Living Stones came alongside Glory Sports in Guadalajara and Carpina to serve the local communities. Athletes in Action is also working with them, headquartered in Carpina. In August, we are changing focus to expand the Glory Sports/Living Stones ministries in Guadalajara and Lagoa de Itaenga. Please continue to pray with us as we begin!
We hope to finish the roof for the gym in Lagoa de Itaenga by August 19th!
